1995 Mercedes C180 'Esprit'
The
W202 C-Class was introduced in 1993, as a replacement for the 190
and proved immensely popular, quickly becoming Mercedes-Benz's best-selling
class of vehicles worldwide. The baby of the range was the C180 fitted
with a four cylinder multivalve engine producing 122 bhp. This car, fitted
with the more desirable manual gearbox (the automatic 1.8 cars are a little
sluggish compared to their larger engined bretheren) is presented in striking
french blue and has been subtly upgraded by its previous enthusiast owner
so that, far from looking like the base model that it is, the car has
the apearance of a far more sporty, high spec example. These upgrades
include a full black leather interior, upgraded sony stereo, later style
clear front indicators and smoked rear light lenses (as fitted to post
'98 cars), AMG style radiator grille, sports suspension, stainless steel
exhaust and 17" MOMO alloy wheels, the deception is completed by
the cheeky AMG badge on the bootlid!. The 'Esprit' specification includes
as standard, electric front windows/mirrors/sunroof and the black leather
seating is set off well by the carbon grey trim on the dash, doors and
centre console (instead of pretend wood as fitted to most of the rest
of the range). Having covered just over 138,000 miles with a substantial
service history and proving 100% reliable in daily use this baby Merc'
offers economic motoring with out of the ordinary looks.
